About Our Lab
Taylor Sims
Wastewater Specialist
Taylor Sims is a junior at Timpanogos High School enrolled in many biology-related classes. She is the Vice President of a school-related club dedicated to helping integrate students into school life. She is a member of a local musical theater group which travels around the community performing at youth correctional facilities and libraries. She enjoys yoga, spending time outdoors, and playing the ukulele.
Samuel Sterman
Technology Specialist
Samuel is currently a senior at Timpanogos High School. In addition to being a active member of Seminary Council, a local religious based service group, Samuel also runs Cross Country and Track and Field. Samuel has a deep love for baseball, excels at mathematics and loves computers. Samuel is unafraid to talk to anyone and is known by his peers as one of the most kind, energetic students at Timpanogos.
Derek Bonney
Vice Captain
Derek Bonney is currently a senior at Timpanogos High School. He has received multiple varsity letters in Cross Country and Track and Field. In addition Derek is the current president of the Timpanogos chapter of NHS. Furthermore, he is a National Society of High School Scholars Ambassador and has Academic letters in five categories: Science, Physical Education, English, Service, and Leadership. Derek enjoys traveling with his family, playing spikeball, and running with his team.
Robert Weaver
Historian
Robert Weaver is a junior at Timpanogos High School. He is the president of his FFA chapter, and recently received 8th place at the national FFA Agriscience Fair. He is currently raising a herd of sheep and goats at his home in Cedar Hills, Utah. He enjoys birdwatching and kayaking.
Madeline Jensen
Head of Research
Madeline Jensen is currently a senior at Timpanogos High School. She works closely with HawkWatch International, a organization which focuses on study of  Falco sparverius, or the American Kestrel. She enjoys doing research, hanging out with her family and learning new things.
Tyler Weber
Team Captain
Tyler is a senior at Timpanogos High School. He enjoys running cross country, mountain biking, climbing, trail running, slacklining, fly fishing, camping and backpacking. He has been awarded the Emerging Medical Scientist from Harvard University, and is currently a council member on NHS. He also is on the LDS seminary council, a local religious based service group. In his spare time he loves spending time with his family, hanging out with friends and exploring the canyons and forests near his home.
Aurora Nelson
Public Outreach Specialist
Aurora is a senior at Timpanogos High School. She is on the HOSA club council and enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with friends. Half of her schedule is science classes and she looks forward to studying biology in college.
